Jeremy Singer | 12.04.2008

Legendary British musician Billy Bragg performed a special live set in the Gibson Guitar Studio in London’s West End. Billy was joined on stage by a number of special guest artists including Jon McClure from Reverend and the Makers, Sam Duckworth AKA Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Otis Gibbs (currently on tour with Billy),The Mentalists, John Neeson, and Kieran Leonard. Billy's set followed the first screening of "Jail Guitar Doors" which documented a year in the campaign’s progress and featured the specially customized Epiphone acoustic and electric guitars. Billy ended with a rendition of his classic hit “New England” accompanied by all girl band the Mentalists.

Jail Guitar Doors is an independent initiative set up by Billy Bragg which provides musical instruments such as customized Epiphone guitars for the use of inmates serving time in Her Majesty’s prisons and young offender units around the UK. It takes its name from the b-side of the Clash’s 1978 single “Clash City Rockers”.
