When Fans & Bands Attack! 7 Brawls Caught On Tape

Jonah Bayer | 12.02.2008

Although social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook have made celebrities and artists more accessible than ever before, that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to respect your favorite artist’s personal space — even if your cell phone does have a pretty sweet camera. Remember, don’t try this at home.

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards doesn’t give this rabid fan any satisfaction when he jumps on-stage during this performance of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” Note how Richards straps his guitar back on after the attack and finishes the song like nothing ever happened. Now that’s rock and roll, people.

If there are three words you should never say to Björk, they’re “Welcome to Bangkok.” In the famous clip below, the Icelandic artist goes berserk on a journalist who greets her. Who knew that someone just over five feet tall could inflict so much damage?

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy isn’t known for being an overly aggressive guy, but he completely loses it when a fan jumps on-stage and tries to put his arm around him mid-song. Although his apology seems heartfelt, Tweedy is clearly frazzled by the incident … and frankly we don’t blame him.

If you’re performing, it’s a given that at some point you are going to encounter hecklers. In this clip, rapper Akon shows you exactly what not todo when you lose your cool — unless you’re performing as part of the World Wrestling Federation and your name is Hulk Hogan.

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher got quite a wake up call in September when he was assaulted by an overzealous fan mid-song during the Virgin Festival in Toronto. See for yourself.

We’re not sure how many times we have to tell you this, but this clip confirms the fact that no matter how much you love your favorite band, don’t interrupt them while they’re doing their thing on-stage. Tool frontman Maynard Keenan gets bonus points here for continuing to sing — and not even losing his breath — during this on-stage grappling.

When Fall Out Boy’s private security gets into an altercation with the venue’s security at this show, see what happens. Major props go to FOB’s pint-sized frontman Pete Wentz who dives into the pit to protect his friend without worrying about the physical harm that might be inflicted on himself. Can’t we all just get along, people?
