Daughtry Sorting Out Sophomore Album

Ellen Mallernee | 07.15.2008

DaughtryThis past December Chris Daughtry told us that he and his bandmates already had 17 songs completed for their sophomore album, the high-pressure follow-up to Daughtry, which was the top-selling album of 2007. “Some songs are coming out a little heavier than the last record, and some songs are just way more beautiful,” Daughtry said then.

Yesterday Daughtry took to the band’s website to catch fans up on the album’s progress, revealing that the band have 30 songs in the can and more coming.

“Some amazing songs have been written over the past 6-7 weeks,” Daughtry wrote. “Between me, the guys, and some great writers we’ve been working with, I think we have some GREAT stuff! It’s been an awesome process. We wrote songs together as a band which was really cool. We also wrote with some guys that really contributed to what we do and helped us along with our process.”

Daughtry says he’s been writing with “good friend” Emerson Hart (formerly of Tonic) as well as the writers who helped him pen Daughtry hits “What About Now,” “Over You,” “All These Lives,” and “What I Want.”
